Skyline Education Privacy Policy

Skyline Education, Inc. and its affiliated schools, programs, and educational organizations ("Skyline Education," "Skyline," "we," "our," or "us") respect the privacy of our students, families, employees, and community members. Protecting personal information is an important part of our commitment to providing safe, effective, and innovative educational services. This Privacy Policy describes how information is collected, used, stored, and shared when individuals access or use the Skyline Education mobile application, websites, and related digital services (collectively referred to as the "Services").

The Services are designed to enhance communication, improve access to educational information, support student success, and strengthen engagement between schools, students, parents, guardians, staff members, and community stakeholders. By using the Services, users acknowledge that they have read and understood this Privacy Policy and agree to the collection and use of information as described herein.

As part of providing educational services, Skyline Education may collect information that users voluntarily provide through the application or related systems. This information may include names, email addresses, telephone numbers, mailing addresses, emergency contact information, student identification numbers, account credentials, and other information necessary to support school operations and communication. Depending on the user's relationship with Skyline Education, additional information may be collected, including enrollment information, attendance records, course schedules, academic progress, assessment results, extracurricular participation, athletic involvement, and communications submitted through the Services.

For enrolled students, Skyline Education may maintain educational records and information necessary to provide instruction, evaluate academic progress, administer educational programs, and fulfill legal obligations. These records may include student demographic information, enrollment status, attendance history, grades, assessment data, course participation, discipline records, transportation information, and other educational records maintained by the school. Certain information related to special education services, individualized education programs, accommodations, or student support services may also be maintained when necessary to provide educational services and comply with applicable laws.

In addition to information provided directly by users, the Services may automatically collect certain technical and usage information. This information may include device type, operating system, browser information, internet protocol (IP) address, device identifiers, application version, usage patterns, error logs, and diagnostic information. Such information helps Skyline Education maintain the security and performance of the Services, troubleshoot technical issues, improve functionality, and better understand how users interact with the platform.

Certain features of the Services may utilize location-based functionality. When permitted by users through their device settings, Skyline Education may collect approximate or precise location information to support functions such as event attendance, transportation services, campus navigation, emergency notifications, or other school-related activities. Users may disable location services through their device settings at any time; however, certain features may become unavailable or operate with reduced functionality.

Information collected through the Services is used primarily to support the educational mission of Skyline Education. This includes facilitating communication between schools and families, providing access to educational records and student information, supporting academic instruction and intervention, managing attendance and enrollment, administering athletic and extracurricular programs, delivering notifications and alerts, responding to user inquiries, maintaining system security, improving application functionality, and complying with legal and regulatory obligations.

Skyline Education is committed to protecting student education records in accordance with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) and other applicable federal and state laws. Educational records maintained through the Services are accessed only by authorized individuals who have a legitimate educational interest or as otherwise permitted or required by law. Parents, guardians, and eligible students retain the rights provided under FERPA regarding access to and review of educational records.

Because many of our users are minors, Skyline Education also takes special care to protect children's privacy. Information collected from children under the age of thirteen is used solely for educational and school-related purposes and in accordance with applicable laws, including the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA). Parents and guardians may contact Skyline Education regarding questions about information maintained on behalf of their children and may request access to such information as permitted by law.

Skyline Education does not sell personal information to third parties. Information may be shared with authorized school personnel, including teachers, administrators, counselors, coaches, support staff, and other employees who require access to perform their educational or operational responsibilities. Information may also be shared with trusted service providers that assist Skyline Education in delivering educational, technological, administrative, communication, hosting, analytics, or security services. These providers are contractually required to safeguard information and may only use it for authorized purposes on behalf of Skyline Education.

There may be circumstances in which Skyline Education is required or permitted to disclose information to comply with legal obligations, court orders, lawful requests from governmental authorities, safety concerns, or other situations authorized by applicable law. Skyline Education may also disclose information when necessary to protect the safety, rights, or property of students, employees, families, or the organization itself.

The security of personal information is a priority for Skyline Education. We employ administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect information against unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, or destruction. Security measures may include secure authentication procedures, encryption technologies, role-based access controls, monitoring systems, audit logging, and vendor security requirements. While no technology system can guarantee absolute security, Skyline Education continually works to maintain reasonable and appropriate protections for information entrusted to us.

Information is retained only for as long as necessary to fulfill educational, operational, legal, and regulatory purposes. Retention periods may vary depending upon the type of information involved and the requirements imposed by applicable laws, accreditation standards, and educational recordkeeping obligations.

The Services may contain links to or integrations with third-party applications, platforms, or services that are not controlled by Skyline Education. When users interact with third-party services, their information may be subject to the privacy practices of those providers. Skyline Education encourages users to review the privacy policies of any third-party services they choose to access.

To improve the quality and effectiveness of the Services, Skyline Education may utilize analytics tools that help us understand application performance, feature usage, user engagement, and technical issues. Whenever practical, analytics information is aggregated or de-identified to minimize the collection of personally identifiable information.

Residents of certain states, including California, may have additional privacy rights under applicable law. Skyline Education honors all legally required rights and protections afforded to users under applicable state and federal privacy regulations. Skyline Education does not sell personal information and does not knowingly share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising purposes.

Skyline Education may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in technology, legal requirements, educational practices, or organizational operations.
